COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - On Monday, the Colorado Springs City Council plans to hold a Special Meeting to appoint a new councilmember to the now vacant District 2 seat.
Between March 12 and March 26, candidates filled out applications, and following the closure of applications, councilmembers said they recommended their top choices to move on in consideration.
The following candidates are being considered for the District 2 Seat:
- Polly Cambron
- Cindy Carter
- Ken Casey
- Anita Miller
- Shawn Murray
- Dan Spohn
During the Special Meeting, officials said the candidates will have five minutes to address the City Council. The councilmembers are then expected to get an opportunity to ask follow-up questions, with the candidates having three minutes to respond.
After hearing from the candidates, officials said public comment will begin.
City Council will then have the opportunity to deliberate before voting on the candidates. Officials say the selected candidate must have five of the eight votes to secure their appointment.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. on April 6 and will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
